Non-Indians question tribal development rules

Non-Indian residents of the Tulalip Reservation in Washington packed a public hearing on Wednesday to voice opposition about the tribe's proposed shoreline regulations. The tribes held the meeting to receive input about the draft rules. The tribes want to make sure the shoreline is protected for future generations. Non-Indians are concerned that the tribal government is overstepping its jurisdiction. If enacted, they would be required to obtain tribal permission to develop their properties. Get the Story:
