Historic photos of Crow Creek Reservation restored

About 300 historic photographs taken by a monk who lived and worked on the Crow Creek Sioux Reservation in South Dakota have been restored. Rev. Ambrose Mattingly took the pictures during the late 1800s and the early 1900s. They depict tribal life and interactions with non-Indians. The photos are being kept by the Blue Cloud Abbey's American Indian Culture Research Center. They will also be exhibited at the EROS Data Center, a U.S. Geological Survey agency, outside of Sioux Falls September 19 and 20. Get the Story:
