Giago: Oprah show changed minds on Indian mascots

"The "Indians as mascots" issue has run the gamut of opinion in the 21 plus years I have been writing about it. In the more than 20 years that the mascot debate had been on the table it was only given national exposure on a widely viewed television show once. That happened several years ago when Oprah Winfrey decided to broach the subject. I was a guest on that show and I believe that one screening did more to educate people than any show before or since." Get the Story:
