N.M. tribe seeks $62M state loan to pay off debts
Tuesday, July 29, 2003

The New Mexico Finance Authority is considering loaning $61.7 million to Santa Ana Pueblo to help the tribe pay off existing business debts.

The 12-year loan would be the highest for the state entity, which makes loans to state and local governments.

The tribe operates several businesses but some have not met projections, triggering at least $1.2 million on loan premiums from a local bank, The Albuquerque Journal reported.
