Students quiz candidates for Red Lake tribal election

Four candidates for chairman of the Red Lake Nation council in Minnesota were quizzed by students at a forum on Wednesday night. The candidates stressed the importance of youth. Ramona Desjarlait said she wants to encourage youth to learn tribal language and traditions. Roman “Ducker” Stately supported the creation of a cultural immersion camp. Bobby Whitefeather, a former chairman, promoted job opportunities for youth within the tribal government, Floyd “Buck” Jourdain said he wants to improve education and opportunities for young people.
