Tribal member on GOP ticket probed over residency

The Montana Political Practices Commission is investigating whether an Oglala Lakota tribal member qualifies to run for public office in the state. Dave Mihalic, a former National Park Service superintendent, is running as lieutenant governor. He is on the ticket with Republican governor candidate Pat Davison. A Republican opponent to Davison filed a complaint, saying that Mihalic doesn't meet the state's residency requirement. Louise Galt says Mihalic was employed by the NPS in California two years ago this November, barely missing a deadline to qualify as a lieutenant governor candidate. Get the Story:
