Indian group eyes creation of charter school

The United Indians of All Tribes Foundation of Washington is looking to create a charter school to keep Native students in school. Tribal and other representatives met at the foundation's Daybreak Star Cultural Center yesterday to talk about the idea. The Washington Legislature passed a law on Wednesday to authorize charter schools. The Bay Mills Indian Community in Michigan operates several charter schools. The Confederated Siletz Tribes of Oregon are planning their own school. Get the Story:
