Tribe to use old IHS hospital for alcohol treatment

The Navajo Nation is converting an old Indian Health Service hospital to an alcohol residential treatment center.

The tribe plans to house male and female clients, as well as family members, in the old hospital. The center will incorporate traditional healing and will be the first on-reservation site for alcohol treatment.

The $8 million project received a boost from the state, which is providing $2 million.
