Microsoft appeals to Supreme Court

Facebook Twitter
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 8, 2001

Computer giant Microsoft on Tuesday asked the Supreme Court to overturn a recent appeals court ruling because a judge who said the company violated anti-trust laws was unfairly biased.

In June, the District of Columbia Court of Appeals upheld Judge Thomas P. Jackson's ruling that Microsoft had engaged in anti-competitive practices. But the court assigned the case to a different judge because Jackson had spoken to the media about the case in unflattering terms of the company.

The appeals court also stopped the breakup of Microsoft into different components.
