"We are your friends.

When I recently heard those words on national television from a member of the Arab American community, I felt compassion, then pain.

Compassion because sincerity engulfed his demeanor. Pain because his was so evident.

It seemed unfair he should have to stand before a group of people and explain to others he was not the enemy. . ."
