THURSDAY, AUGUST 23, 2001 A long-running fued between two members of the Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut has lead to a recall petition against the head of the tribe's Council of Elders. Historian Melissa Fawcett is trying to organize a recall vote against Gay Story Hamilton. Fawcett says Hamilton is not following Mohegan tradition. Hamilton says Fawcett is acting on some personal vendetta against her. The Council of Elders oversees cultural issues, enrollment and its seven members sit on the tribe's highest court.
