NOVEMBER 28, 2000 Can man's oldest and some say, best, friend learn how to be racist? That question is being considered by animal psychologists in South Africa. The nation reacted in horror as television stations broadcast a tape of dogs attacking African men in Johannesburg. The dogs were let loose by the police there and are part of the police unit. All of the unit's 18 dogs are now undergoing evaluation to see if they were trained to attack African people specifically. If it is determined that they acted aggressively based on skin color, they will be put to death. Most canine units in the country are predominantly white. Get the Story:
