Yellow Bird: Sioux statue doesn't honor

"Giving thanks to those who have recognized you is important in Native culture. Accepting those gifts of recognition is the correct and traditional response. And so I thank Ralph Engelstad for his tribute to me in the two-page color ad on Friday, Oct. 19, where he thanked me for the idea of building a Sitting Bull statue. He also gave thanks to the community for their support of his new arena.

To my mind, however, there is a misunderstanding in what I wrote in my column and the statue of Sitting Bull that resulted. But since, Mr. Engelstad, I seem to have your ear, let me clarify. . ."
