MARCH 7, 2001 The Bush administration today will begin defending its new White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiative amid criticism by a number of religious and civil liberties groups. John J. DiIulio Jr., the office's director, will speak to the National Association of Evangelicals in Dallas, Texas, today as part of the White House's defense of the program.
