A former car dealer with a sketchy past has dropped a bid to broadcast video horse racing to three Arizona tribal casinos because he doesn't want final rejection to be a "blemish on his record," The Arizona Republic reports today.

Jerry Simms, owner of Turf Paradise racetrack, withdrew his application from the state's Gaming Department. He had already denied a licence to broadcast gaming due to his past involvement in bribery schemes and ties to the Mafia, the department said.
