Native villages get housing

Three Alaska Native villages are receiving new housing thanks to a grant provided by the Departmment of Housing and Urban Development.

The Association of Village Council Presidents Regional Housing Authority received a housing grant under the Native American Housing and Self-Determination Act. The association is using the grant for new homes at Alakanuk, Sheldon Point and Hooper Bay.

The new homes will replace aging, substandard and threatened housing facilities in the villages. They will also address shortages.
