JUNE 19, 2001 Riverboat gaming in Joilet has taken the Illinois city 40 miles south of Chicago from poverty and crime to propserity as one of the fastest growing municipalities in the nation. The city is currently taking in $30 million a year from the casinos. Since the casinos arrived nine years ago, the city has made more then $200 million. There are costs, however. Schools and jails are overcrowded, roads are clogged with traffic, and problem gamblers group's are increasing. Get the Story:
