APRIL 23, 2001 New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer on Friday said casinos owned by the Oneida Nation and the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe won't be affected by a recent court ruling declaring gaming compacts illegal because they were negotiated without the consent of the Legislature. The group who brought the lawsuit against Governor George Pataki also said their intention was not to shut down existing casinos. They said it was intended to stop expansion of gaming. Get the Story:
