TUESDAY, AUGUST 28, 2001 The Oglala Lakota Tribe of South Dakota has adopted a sex offender registry law that will go into effect next month. Sex offenders must register with tribal police within 10 days of coming to the Pine Ridge Reservation. The law is often called "Megan's Law" in reference to a New Jersey girl killed in 1994 by a convicted pedophile who lived in the neighborhood. The tribe is the first in the state to adopt the law.
