JULY 2, 2001 A federal judge last week approved a 60-day delay in a lawsuit challenging the ability of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut to seek trust lands. The delay will allow the tribe and three neighboring towns more time to consider a possible resolution to the land-into-trust dispute. The towns oppose additional trust lands sought by the tribe but recently lost their case in the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals. The tribe has said it is willing to consider some limit on the land it would ask the Department of Interior to take into trust. Get the Story:
