Supreme Court to take on online porn

The Supreme Court on Monday accepted an appeal brought by the United States to protect a federal law which makes it a crime to show pornography to children.

The 3th Circuit Court of Appeals in June 2000 issued a preliminary injunction preventing the US from enforcing the Child Online Protection Act (COPA), which President Bill Clinton signed into law in 1988. In ruling was in favor of the American Civil Liberties Union and a number of media and privacy groups.

The appeal was initiated by the Clinton administration.
