JUNE 11, 2001 Dakota Sioux tribal members and residents of New Ulm this week will participate in a conference aimed at fighting diabetes, which kills American Indians in Minnesota at a rate almost five times that of whites. New Ulm has special significance because conflicts there in 1862 began the Dakota War.
