OCTOBER 13, 2000 The company who produces a genetically engineered corn not meant for human consumption will remove its products from the market because it has been found in two brands of taco shells. Two recalls have been issued so far because samples have been found to contain the corn known as StarLink. It is made by Aventis CropScience and is approved by the Environmental Protection Agency for animal consumption only. The brands recalled are Taco Bell taco shells and Safeway Inc shells. Safeway announced its recall on Wednesday and Kraft Foods, makers of the Taco Bell brand, announced a recall last month. Get the Story:
