WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 8, 2001 Indian and environmental groups are protesting a mine they say is polluting the only lake in Honduras. The Honduran government on Tuesday began an investigation of the mine, operated by a Candian company. Federal prosecutors have asked a court to shut it down and arrest the operator. Opponents want the government to develop tougher environmental regulations and ban the use of cyanide in mines.
