Yellowstone bison killed

Montana state livestock officials on Tuesday killed a bull buffalo because he would not go back into Yellowstone National Park.

The bull was not tested for brucellosis. Montana officials are given permission to kill bison which test positive for the disease which can cause cattle to abort their calves.

Last wineter, the state and former Secretary of Interior Bruce Babbitt signed a final management plan over for the bison. Since then, five have been killed.

Various Indian and environmental organizations, as well as tribes, oppose the killings.
