JANUARY 12, 2001 US Fish and Wildlife officials are investigating the deaths of two bald eagles in Oklahoma. Officials say the eagles died due to poisoning. But since they were found in different areas and since eagles sometimes get lead poisoning by feeding off shot animals, they say there is no need for alarm. Nevertheless, anytime an eagle is found dead, officials investigate. Typically, the feathers of dead eagles are used to satisfy requests for them by tribes and Native Americans. Get the Story:
