Himself a veteran of the Vietnam War, Walks Over Ice began chronicling Crow participation in various wars after he returned from that overseas conflict. From the Red Cloud War of 1874 to the Spanish-American War to Desert Storm, Walks Over Ice has recorded at least 2,500 Crow men and women who have served in the U.S. military in the past 127 years.
