MONDAY, AUGUST 13, 2001 Quirina Luna-Costilla has been singlehandedly reviving the Mutson language, last fluently spoken in the 1930s. Luna-Costilla thought the language of her Mutson Ohlone ancestors was dead. But through written texts, recordings and transcripts, she has spent the past five years learning it. She is now working with a linguist to create a English-Mutson dictionary, textbooks for children and translations. And she is teaching her children the language. The Muston Oholne Tribe is not federally recognized. Get the Story:
