Pipe maker fears loss of tradition

Adam Fortunate Eagle is in Kansas this week, teaching students attending an Outward Bound program at Haskell Indian Nations University about the history of pipe-making.

Eagle, a member of the Red Lake Ojibwe Band, is the spiritual leader of the Keepers of the Sacred Tradition of Pipemaker. The group's goal is to ensure access to quarries used to make traditional Indian pipes.

Eagle says he participates in the program because he doesn't want the pipe-making tradition to be lost.
