APRIL 16, 2001 The Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma and the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Nation of North Carolina last week helped rebury the remains of two Indian children discovered at a jail site in West Virginia. The remains were discovered as part of pre-construction efforts for the jail. The Associated Press does not identify the age of the remains, just that they were found in a "prehistoric American Indian hunting camp." The two tribes participated because of their historical and aboriginal connection to the area. Get the Story:
