TUESDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2001 A forthcoming book "They Were Not Familiar With His Majesty Nor Did They Want To Be His Subjects" will publish English translations of documents on Francisco Vázquez de Coronado's exploration of New Mexico. The documents, say authors Richard Flint and Shirley Cushing Flint, dispel myths about Coronado's venture into Pueblo Country. But through examination of documents written in Spanish, English and Nahuatl -- the Aztec language -- the pair says they have come up with a more accurate portrayal of the 1540 trip. The book also includes 13 previously unpublished documents. Get the Story:
