Art Review: Native artist Oklahoma

"A fusing of hyper-realistic details and strong spiritual- fantasy content is perhaps the most striking characteristic of the acrylic paintings by Tulsa artist Robert Taylor on display in the East Gallery at the state Capitol.

Born in 1951 of Cherokee, Blackfeet, Crow and Osage descent, Taylor emphasized that "Native Americans (including the artist himself) live in a world of symbols and images where the spiritual and mundane are one."
