Mohegan Tribe pledges $10M to NMAI

The Mohegan Tribe today will make a $10 million pledge to help construct the National Museum of the American Indian being built on the Mall in Washington, DC.

The tribe will make the payment over 20 years. It is part of a campaign to raise $100 million in funds for the museum, slated to open in 2004.

Senator Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii), incoming chairman of the Indian Affairs Committee, Laurence Small, Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, W. Richard West, Director of the NMAI and Mohegan Chairman Mark Brown will be on hand for the signing ceremony today.
