FEBRUARY 8, 2001 Jonathan Yardley (yardley@twp.com) reviews the recently released book, "Revenge of the Pequots: How a Small Native American Tribe Created the World's Most Profitable Casino," in The Washington Post today. Of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation'a rise from relative obscurity to international prominence, Yardley says former Chairman Richard "Skip" Hayward and former and current lawyer Tom Tureen "manipulated" laws and treaties to build the legal groundwork the Pequot Tribe and others tribes subsequently used to start gaming empires.
