AUGUST 29, 2000 Edgar Steele, a lawyer representing members of the Aryan Nation, called his own clients and the white supremacist organization "racists" as a trial filed by a Native family got underway in Couer D'Alene, Idaho, on Monday. The Keenan family is suing Aryan Nations founder Richard Butler for a violent incident in 1998. Two members were convicted of assault and are in prison while a third is a fugitive.
