MAY 5, 2000

South Dakota Governor Bill Janklow will discuss the state's treatment of its Native American population in a meeting on Tuesday. He will meet with members of the US Commission on Civil Rights to discuss a report they filed earlier this year criticizing the way the judicial system treats the Native community. Janklow had earlier called the report "garbage."

The meeting will be held in Pierre. The conference is not an official Commission meeting.
