MAY 17, 2000 Charles Chibitty, the last living Commanche Code Talker, is being honored in a new painting presented to the US Senate. Chibitty was one of 20 Commanche who volunteered for special duty during World War II. Artist Wayne Cooper depicts Chibitty on the Normandy beachhead. The painting is a gift from Oklahoma Senator Jim Dunlap and the Phillips Petroleum Company. Get the Story:
