MAY 15, 2000 Laughing Woman, a spiritual leader and medicine woman of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, confronted author Jeff Benedict on Saturday. He was in Mystic, Connecticut for a book signing. Benedict's recently published Without Reservation alleges the Mashantucket have no genealogical relationship to the historic Pequot tribe.
