DECEMBER 7, 2000 The Washington state Republican Party is launching an official investigation into the spending habits of its leader who earlier defended a party resolution calling for the termination of tribal governments. The party will hold an emergency meeting tonight to discuss Chairman Don Benton's apparent failure to disclose that as much as $1.5 million in state GOP funds went unspent.
