Lawyers get rich off tribes

Cravath, Swaine and Moore, the law firm representing the Oneida Nation of New York, and Paul Weiss, representing the Oneida First Nation in Canada, are among the richest last firms in the nation.

Cravath and partners made $2.1 million per partner for 1999, ranking them third. Weiss reported $1 million to rank 15th.

Law firms representing the parties on the opposite end of the land claims also rank on the top 100 list.
