SEPTEMBER 19, 2000

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation will return any historical documents it has in its posession to state of Connecticut.

The question of ownership of state documents arose last week when the tribe released a document they say proves the current membership is descended from the historical Pequot tribe. The document dates to 1857 and the state says it and others rightfully belong in the state's archives.
