SEPTEMBER 12, 2000

Members of the Quapaw Tribe of Oklahoma dismissed three governing members from its board and will hold a special meeting next month to fill the positions.

The members were dismissed for allegedly refusing to participate in a July meeting. The members had walked out of the meeting to protest the election of Chairwoman Tamara Martin, whom they had alleged to have been involved in fradulent election activities, none of which were proven.
