JUNE 30, 2000 It looks like the towns of Ledyard, North Stonington, and Preston will have to find another way to find the original map describing the boundaries of the Mashantucket Pequot reservation in Connecticut. Connecticut Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz told The New London Day its not her job to find the map as the towns have demanded of her. The map was used by Congress to enact the 1983 Pequot Settlement Act, which granted the tribe federal recognition status and ended the tribe's outstanding land claims with local landowners. No one has yet located the original map but copies exist. Get the Story:
