SEPTEMBER 21, 2000 Since honeybees, like humans, consume alcohol voluntarily, scientists believe they are ripe candidates for testing of the drug Antabuse. Antabuse is a drug that makes alcoholics sick when they consume alcohol in hopes that they stop. Researchers at Oklahoma State University are now giving honeybees the drug and say it appears to have an effect. Other animals have to be injected alcohol or tricked into drinking it.
