JULY 24, 2000 If Sherman Alexie wrote a new book, The Healthiest Indian in the World, it might be the biography of Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R-Colo). The Northern Cheyenne Senator says he's pumping 45,000 pounds of iron a day, thanks to a regular workout schedule. The Senator has been working out since a youngster and was the captain of the US judo team in the 1964 Olympics, which he coached until 1972. Regarding his fellow Congress members, Campbell told The Denver Rocky Mountain News, "Too many overweight guys sitting around in a sauna is not my idea of a workout." Campbell begins his workout at 6AM in the morning. The 66-year-old Senator also rides motorcyles. Get the Story:
