MAY 18, 2000 Prominent activist Louis Stevenson, chief of the Peguis First Nation in Manitoba, has been charged in connection with an incident in which he allegedly brandished a handgun and fired it in a hotel in Winnepeg. Stevenson was taken into custody on Tuesday evening and released on his own recognizance on Wednesday.
