MAY 24, 2000 The Kickapoo Tribe of Kansas held an emergency meeting on Tuesday to discuss its water needs due to rising heat and forecasts for poor rain. Lake Perry, which serves the reservation, is at a dangerously low level. The tribe has been able to survive water emergencies in the past. The tribe used Tuesday's meeting, which was attended by state congressmen, representatives of the governor's office, and the Kansas Water Office to inform them of their situation and to renew a call for the Pikitanoi Water Project.
