DECEMBER 8, 2000 The Montana Reserved Water Rights Compact Commission on Wednesday unanimously approved a water rights compact with the tribes on the Fort Belknap Reservation. The compact addresses the tribes' water rights on the Milk River. The council still has to approve it, then the state Legislature. Congress would also have to ratify it.
