SEPTEMBER 19, 2000

The La Crosse School District in Wisconsin decided last night to remove Tomah High School's Indians mascot from the walls of its gymnasium.

The school's Native American Student Association complained about the logo. Tomah school officials had continued to use it, because they had talked with Ho-Chunk Nation leaders who weren't offended.
