AUGUST 10, 2000

Native American students like 16-year-old Shaliyah Ben and her 13-year-old sister, Jennifer, of the Navajo Nation are brought together with other young students in a two-month program designed to help partipants express themselves and their culture through art.

Xicanindio Artez sponsors the program. The word Xicanindio is a combination of the Nahutal (Aztec) spelling of Chicano and Indio, the Spanish word for Indian.
